Boston Condominium Conversion Ordinance is adopted.

December 27, 1979

The ordinance is approved by the Boston City Council and signed by Mayor Kevin White. It requires that most tenants be given at least a one-year notice of conversion and that the elderly poor be given two years. The law passed the City Council on December 26, 1979 by a vote of 7-2, with councilors Flynn and Sansone opposed, saying the law should protect all elderly, handicapped and poor tenants.
